Valentine's Dinner and Show

2009 Sleigh Ride

Julia Laskowski, whose singing style styles range from Patsy Cline to Grand Opera and often times reminiscent of Bette Midler, wrote songs exclusively for this performance.

She has performed all across Texas, and in Italy. She has been seen in Always, Patsy Cline, Zombies from the Beyond, and most recently with Patti Rabaza in Country Gravy and Other Obsessions

Pianist, John Hardesty whose music is drawn from a combination of classical, religious, and New Age sounds is a native Texan. His first love is creating music in the moment, and he does this with a variety of other musicians and singers. Much of the vocal music that emanates from this award-winning composer focuses on being inspired and claiming one’s personal freedom. This will be an evening of fun and food you don’t want to miss.

Chef Suggested Wines

The following wines are found at local stores throughout Houston. They will not overpower the palate, but leave it refreshed for the next bite.

  • Mācon-Villages, Dame Artix < $12.00
A light white from the Southern part of Burgandy with sweet notes and a nutty finish.
  • Pietra Santa Chardonnay < $14.00
A fine example of a medium priced California Chardonnay without the over-oaking so common to the style.
  • Le Rosé de Marie-Antoinette 2006 < $11.50
For those who prefer the style, this is a a step up from the commonly available pink wines. These are available in the local Specs at Dairy Ashford and Memorial and are in the cooler at the back of the store.
  • J Vidal-fleury Cotes Du Rhone Domaine Le
    Pigeonnier < $11.00

An interesting and complex version of the wine and worth a try for those eating a stronger red meat.
  • 2005 Bourbon la Chapelle, Médoc < $16.00
This is one of those rare red wines that drinks out of its price class. It will complement and not overpower the food it is served with. Best left to breath for a while or decanted to bring out the full berry notes.
